Billy Wiseman opened Union Appliance and Furniture, Inc. on April 13, 1972 in the building now occupied by Mi Pueblo Mexican Restaurant. In August, 1977, he bought out Phyfer Furniture Company and relocated to 101 West Main Street in the building they formerly occupied. Billy had worked nine years for General Electric Credit Corporation, Inc. in their Columbus, MS Greenville, MS, and Jonesboro, AK offices before returning to New Albany. Travis Wiseman worked summers and holidays for his father and assumed the general management of the business in 1998. Travis attended the University of Mississippi.
